Darren Blackburn is the Dean of the School of Public Safety at the Justice Institute of BC. Darren recently completed a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of British Columbia, studying professional identity formation in Canadian emergency managers (dissertation available here:
http://hdl.handle.net/2429/94136). Darren is also engaged in research on mass care and emergency management in public health settings. In 2025, Darren received the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his work in emergency management.
